A Day In The Not-So-Concrete Jungle

Tuesday, September 5th was made for a sibling day. And with my nephew getting an extra day off of school on this holiday weekend, it was bound to be fun. After finishing up everyone's chores, we headed out for the Perot Museum. Traffic was a little long like it normally is heading to downtown Dallas on a work day, but we eventually made it. Only to see a big sign that said "Museum closed for maintenance."
In our defense, NOTHING was stated on their social media saying they would be closed. We had every idea to believe it was open. Now, we were in downtown Dallas, zig zagging our way through traffic, trying to figure out, what are we gonna do now?
After google search, Facebook search, and simply driving around, Sarah had an idea that would save the day.
"What about the Aquarium?"
None of us had ever been, it was great for the kids, and would provide entertainment for us as well. After verbally letting out our frustrations about the museum being closed, we headed off for the Aquarium.
It was a bit confusing to figure out where to park, where to go in and where to pay. But once we finally figured our way through yet another maze of downtown Dallas, we found ourselves entering the bird exhibits.

The museum itself was very interesting, Jackson in particular loved using his map to find all of the different animals.

They had a room that featured different marine life from multiple countries all over the world.
Weird looking fish:

Pretty fish:

Baby sea horses:

And weird eels that stick themselves completely vertically in the ground to hide from prey.

Overall, the aquarium was a very beautiful place with scenery that wouldn't lead you to believe you were in the middle of a concrete jungle.

And every once in a while, a little animal would pop out along the way.
This monkey had quite the RBF.

It was a bit of a challenge, but I shot everything that day on my iPhone, and that was honestly one of the most exciting parts of the day. Seeing how well portrait mode worked when the lighting was right was insane. Because of this I basically took photos at any and every exhibit.

Proof:

While it's not my canon camera, it was still crazy how impressive some of these photos were. I really had fun spending the day at the aquarium with some of my siblings and nephews, and if you ever feel like you can't figure out what to do, I highly suggest making your way to the actual jungle in the middle of downtown Dallas.
